welcome
My practice is fully inclusive; I invite and embrace clients of all backgrounds and identities. I am, also, particularly attuned, and deeply committed, to clients of color and supporting their specific needs.
In addition to talk therapy, I lead workshops for parents designed to help them repair and improve parent-child relationships, and groups for girls of color that promote positive self-identity and cultural confidence. I create and present seminars to private groups and companies. One of my favorites is titled Emotional Inheritance: Everyone Is An Heir, exploring the connection between our generational legacy and personal narrative, which I shared with @wearelwd, a foundation supporting Black female leadership.
Beyond my clinical practice, I actively engage with organizations and initiatives championing equity. I serve on the Board of Trustees and chair the DEIJ committee at Park Century School, an independent school educating neurodiverse students with language-based learning differences; co-chair the Trustee Leadership Program for Private School Village, a nonprofit organization dedicated to “positively transforming the private school experience for Black families;” and partner with Equity Engine, a nonprofit working to “create the conditions where women can thrive with greater access to networks, resources, and opportunities.”
I am a proud alumna of Howard University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in English, and of Pepperdine University where I graduated magna cum laude with a master’s in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. With a background in education, I also hold a Master Teacher designation in Early Childhood Education. #teacher
Enough about me! Schedule a call so I can learn a bit about you.
I’m Heather and I’m so glad you’re here. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (aMFT#129763) based in Los Angeles offering both in-person and virtual therapy sessions.
I work with women, children, teen girls, couples, and families to address a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational issues, family dynamics, and school-based challenges.
My work as a therapist is through connection. I do not approach therapy in an overly clinical, or one-size-fits-all way. Instead, I take an individualized, relationship-based approach that is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, insight to assist you in better understanding your current experience, and practical guidance to help you maneuver through the world. With children, I incorporate art, story, and play to foster their awareness around emotions, and to develop necessary self-regulation and self-advocacy skills.
